Box Score The Zips of Akron claimed a 3-0 victory over Oakland volleyball Saturday afternoon in the Zips Radisson Invitational in Akron, Ohio. The Golden Grizzlies were defeated 30-9, 30-27, 30-19. Oakland falls to 0-7 on the year, while Akron improved to 3-1 overall. The Golden Grizzlies hit -.081 as a team in the first game and followed with .000 and .179 performances. Leading the way for OU in the loss was sophomore Karen Conger (Marysville/Marysville HS) with six kills and a .333 attack percentage. Junior Beth Ann Rourk (Woodhaven/Woodhaven HS) followed with five kills for OU. Senior transfer Becca Saldana (White Lake/Walled Lake Central HS/Central Florida) led the Golden Grizzlies with 15 assists and she had five digs. Sophomore Katie Lozier (Clinton Township/Chippewa Valley HS) guided Oakland defensively with 16 digs from the libero position. Oakland will finish up play in the Akron Zips Radisson Invitational Saturday afternoon at 5 p.m.
