Box Score Box Score The Oakland University softball team opened the Mid-Continent Conference season as the Golden Grizzlies split a doubleheader against UMKC this evening in Independence, Missouri. OU dropped the first game 0-3, but claimed victory in the nightcap 6-0. Oakland improves to 8-19, 1-1 in the Mid-Con, while UMKC goes to 11-17, 1-1 in conference action. In the first game the Kangaroos posted a 1-0 lead in the second inning off of three hits to make it a 1-0 game. Linnea Utecht scored off a UMKC error to make it 3-0. OU added the icing on the cake as the Grizzlies poured in three runs in the fifth inning as OU went on to win by the final of 6-0. Leading OU in the nightcap was Utecht as she was a perfect 2-2 from the plate with one run scored. Picking up the win was sophomore
