The Oakland University softball team was defeated by Marshall, 3-2 in nine innings, Friday, March 15, in Huntington, West Virginia. Oakland drops to 3-12, while Marshall improves to 7-9 overall. The Grizzlies got on the board in the fourth inning courtesy of sophomore Jaymie Voss as she drilled her second homer of the year to make it a 1-0 OU lead. Oakland was able to keep Marshall on the ropes until the bottom of the seventh inning as MU scored to send the game to extra innings at 1-1. Oakland went up 2-1 in the top of the ninth as Ericka Burns drove home Erica Judge to give OU a one run lead. The Thundering Herd once again answered back as Marshall was able to colelct two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to win by the final of 3-2. Leading the Grizzlies was Voss as she recorded the games only home run. Collecting OU's second hit was freshman Melissa Wilson as she was 1-4 from the plate. Nicole Marzano collected the loss for the Grizzlies. Oakland will look to get revenge as the Grizzlies play Marshall again on Saturday, March 16 at 10 a.m.
