Oakland University women's basketball team named Kelly Johnson assistant coach Wednesday, July 25. Johnson comes to Oakland from Mountain Care where she worked in 2000-01. "Kelly brings an energetic personality to our program," said head coach Beckie Francis. "Her youth and enthusiasm will help us grow in the long run." Johnson, a native of Pikeville, Kentucky, played five years at Pikeville College, a member of NAIA Division I. She finished seventh in the nation in assists in her senior season and led them to the NAIA National Tournament. Johnson received a bachelor degree from Pikeville College in psychology and human services in 2000.
