Softball Signs The Programs First Left-Handed Pitcher

Oakland University head softball coach Steve Ogg announced today the signing of left-handed pitcher Nicole Marzano to a National Letter of Intent. Marzano comes to Oakland from McHenry, Illinois. The lefty collected a 21-8 record as she pitched 211 innings with 347 strike outs for McHenry HS. In a game last year Marzano struck out 33 batters in a 14-inning game in which McHenry HS won 1-0. The McHenry, Illinois native carries a 3.6 GPA and plans to enter Oakland's physical therapy program in the fall. "Nicole is a power pitcher that throws in the low 60's (mph)," said Ogg. In time as she learns an off speed pitch she should be able to pitch very effectively at the Division I level."
