Oakland sophomore
Mike Helms was named CollegeInsider.Com Co-National Star of the Week following the 60-point combined total in the two victories last week for the Golden Grizzlies. Helms shot a blistering 80 percent from the field, on 16-for-20 shooting, including 5-of-6 from beyond the arc in OU's victory over Western Michigan. The 45 points scored was a career-high for the Detroit native and only seven points shy of the OU school record. He also recorded five rebounds, three steals and one blocked shot. The Grizzlies guard totaled 60 points on the week, with 15 points against Toledo. Sharing the honor with Helms was St. Bonaventure's senior guard J.R. Bremer who poured in 33 points, on 11-for-19 shooting, in the Bonnies, 88-70, victory over UConn. Bremer, who is averaging 25 points a game for Jan van Breda Kolff's team, also pulled down eight rebounds in the win, which ran the Bonnies' record to 8-2.
