Box Score The Oakland University volleyball team fell to the Eagles of Eastern Michigan University 3-0 Tuesday night in Rochester. The loss marks the end of the 2001 season for the Golden Grizzlies. Oakland finished the season at 6-22 overall, while Eastern Michigan improved to 18-9 this year. The Golden Grizzlies started the match strongly as EMU and OU were neck in neck for the start of the first game. Eastern jumped out in game and claimed the 30-19 victory. EMU controlled game two as well as the Eagles won 30-12. Oakland led for much of the final game, but EMU proved to be too much and claimed the 30-24 victory in the final game. Oakland hit a season-low .000 in the three-game match, while Eastern recorded a .239 attack percentage. OU was led by senior Cloretta Porter (Battle Creek/St. Phillips HS) who recorded eight kills in the OU loss. Senior Carmen Trippett (Albion/Albion HS) followed with seven kills and senior Tess Pierce (Yorkville, Illinois/Yorkville HS) tallied four. Eastern was led by Shayna Munson with 10 kills and junior Camila Olaio led the Eagles at the net with 31 assists. Olaio also recorded 11 digs and five service aces.
