Women's Results The Oakland University women's swimming and diving team was defeated in it's home opener 137-98 by Michigan State Wednesday evening, October 24. Oakland opens the season 0-1, while the Spartans improve to 1-1. Finishing in first place for the Golden Grizzlies were sophomores Shelly Aurit (Batavia, IL) and Kazakhstan natives Oksana Strelets and Tanya Korniyenko. Oakland's first top finish came in the 50 yard freestyle as Strelets finished first with a time of 57.25. The Golden Grizzlies second top finish came in the 100 yard butterfly as Korniyenko finished first with a time of 57.25. Strelets finished first in the 100 yard freestyle for her second top finish of the night. The Kazakhstan native recorded a top time of 51.72. Oakland's last top finish of the night came in the 100 yard breaststroke as Aurit finished first with a time of 1:06.96. Oakland will be in action again as the Grizzlies host Wright State on Wednesday, November 3. Action will begin at noon and will feature both the men's and women's teams.
