Sophomore Jason Rozycki had a game high 26 points, including the game winner with three-tenths of a second left in overtime, to give Oakland University its first Mid-Con regular season title.? OU ended the season with a six-game winning streak and improved to 13-17, 11-5 Mid-Con.? Oral Roberts dropped to 12-16, 8-8 Mid-Con. The first half contained five lead changes as the Golden Grizzlies came back from a 7-0 lead and led the Golden Eagles 44-33 after 20 minutes. Oral Roberts went on a 11-4 run at the 10:34 minute mark of the second half to cut the deficit to 61-56.? The two teams traded baskets for the next three minutes and Oakland led 67-61 with 5:10 remaining.? Oral Robert's Reggie Tate hit a three-pointer to put the Golden Eagles within three at the 4:48 minute mark. The Golden Eagles proceeded to take the lead 71-69 with only 2:48 left in the game on a jumper by Tate.? Sophomore Mychal Covington hit both free trows to tie the game at 71.? Brad Buddenborg then put the Golden Grizzlies into the lead 73-71 with 1:14 left.? Rozycki added a layup to increase the lead to 75-71.? The Golden Eagles Tate answered Oakland with a three-pointer and then sent Buddenborg to the line for two free throws with :13 seconds remaining in the game.? Buddenborg hit both free throws to put Oakland ahead 77-74.? The Golden Eagles got two chances at the tie and Micah Ratzlaf made them count as he hit a three-pointer to send the game into overtime. Oakland jumped out to a four point lead, 81-77, with 2:43 remaining in OT.? The Golden Eagles responded with a 5-0 run and led 82-81 with a minute to go.? Rozycki answered with a three-pointer to put the Golden Grizzlies back in front 84-83 with :41 ticks remaining.? Tate hit one of two free throws to tie the game and Rozycki then took over as he crossed over the defender and scored to give Oakland its first men's basketball Mid-Con title. Rozycki led Oakland with 26 points and six rebounds.? Buddenborg scored 20 points and had four rebounds, Steve Houston had 14 points off the bench and Steve Reynolds tallied 11 points in the game. Oakland isn't eligible for the Mid-Con tournament so its season is over.
