Former Oakland standout Chris Edwards is in his third season with Oakland, having joined the OU women[apos]s soccer staff in 2009 as a volunteer assistant coach. Edwards[apos] duties include practice instruction and game-day coaching assistance. He helped OU to an undefeated Summit League record in 2010
Edwards is affiliated with Force FC, where he has assisted since 2002. He coaches the boys under-18 team, in addition to the U-9, U-11 and U-12 boys teams. He holds a United States Soccer Federation (USSF) National Youth Coaching License, in addition to Scottish Football Association (SFA) E, D and C license in addition to his SFA Goalkeeping license.
During his four-year career at Oakland Edwards scored 36 goals and remains one of Oakland[apos]s top goal scorers. He was recognized with All-Mid Continent Honors in each of his four seasons with the Golden Grizzlies.
Edwards also played semi-professional soccer as a member of the Michigan Bucks. There he helped the team to the North American Championship in the Premier Development League.
Edwards began playing soccer as a youth in Glasgow, Scotland where he came up through the ranks of first division Partick Thistle, a team that has also spent time in the Scottish Premiership.
Currently, Edwards resides in Royal Oak, Mich.
