Todd Wohlfeil was named Director of Strength and Conditioning in 2009 after serving as a graduate assistant in the weight room. He is responsible for the supervision of the Strength and Conditioning Staff, as well as the development, implementation, progression, and oversight of comprehensive sports-specific strength and conditioning programs for baseball, men's basketball, women's basketball, softball, men's swimming and diving, women's swimming and diving, and volleyball. Wohlfeil works closely with the Sports Medicine Department to ensure the health and safety of every student-athlete.
Wohlfeil was bestowed with an Order of Ikkos Medallion, presented by the United States Olympic Committee, for the 2012 London Paralympics. The Order of Ikkos is a special order reserved for the coach of an Olympic/Paralympic medalist. The medallion signifies the highest level of excellence that a coach can achieve.
Wohlfeil completed all of his schooling at Oakland, obtaining a Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) in 2009 and a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Sciences in 2005. He is a licensed physical therapist, National Academy of Sports Medicine - Performance Enhancement Specialist (NASM-PES) and USA Weightlifting Sports Performance Coach (USAW-L1SP). He is also certified in CPR, AED & First Aid. Upon graduation with his DPT, Wohlfeil received a Manual Therapy Excellence Award and Research Excellence Award from OU's Physical Therapy Faculty.
While a graduate student at OU, Wohlfeil served as OU's Strength and Conditioning Graduate Assistant. Wohlfeil was responsible for constructing and monitoring the strength and conditioning programs under the supervision of the Director of Sports Medicine. Wohlfeil also worked as an anatomy teaching assistant. He educated physical therapy students in the art of cadaver dissection as it relates to musculoskeletal and neurological anatomy and created study materials to assist in the retention of facts related to human anatomy and physiology.
As an undergraduate student at Oakland, Wohlfeil worked as a certified personal trainer for OU's Department of Campus Recreation. During this time he also worked as an exercise specialist with The Recovery Project in Livonia, Mich. where he created safe and effective strength training programs for spinal cord injury and traumatic brain injury patients. Todd and his wife Deanna reside in Macomb Township, Mich. with their daughter Alexis and son Brayden.
