Jack Mehl, George
Preisinger and George Wibby |
George Preisinger has been a long-time fixture around
the Oakland University campus and recently the new state-of-the-art Athletics Center. In
fact, one reason that the newly opened Athletics Center is state-of-the-art is in part of
the dedication of Preisinger.
Preisinger was instrumental in the complete design of the
audio and video capabilities of the new facility. Throughout the entire process,
Preisinger has been part of every step...from the public address system to the Video
Scoreboard to the Fox Sports Detroit production of the Golden Grizzlies basketball games.
Preisinger, OU's Coordinator of Production Service/Manager of Instruction Technology
Center, is a member of the Oakland 100 and the Hoop Group and a season ticket holder in
basketball.
He received his bachelor's degree (1974) in secondary
education and his master's (1979) in audio/visual media from Western Michigan
University.
When Preisinger isn't busy with his OU life, he enjoys
home remodeling, golfing, producing family and friends videos, playing softball, bowling,
playing tennis, racquetball, volleyball and horseshoes. He also teaches a television
production course for OU's College of Arts & Sciences.
Twenty-three years ago, Preisinger came within one week of
being a firefighter for the city of Portage. To OU's good fortune, with career
direction changes in Preisinger's life, he became a fire fighter for OU athletics.
Preisinger and his wife Sarah live in Rochester Hills.
In special recognition of his long friendship and support
of Oakland University and the university's athletics programs, the Intercollegiate
Athletics Department proudly presents George Preisinger with the George Wibby Award. |
