ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Horizon League announced its weekly outdoor track and field honors, naming
Ja-Van Poole of Oakland University the Men's Runner of the Week.
Poole earned the recognition following a standout performance at the Jim Freeman/Clark Wood Open, where he captured first place in the 400-meter hurdles. The senior turned in a blazing, school-record time of 49.80 seconds, cementing his place among the nation's elite.
His mark currently ranks seventh in the nation, underscoring both his individual excellence and Oakland's growing prominence on the national stage. The performance not only set a new program benchmark but also highlighted Poole's consistency as one of the Horizon League's top competitors as he chases a second consecutive Athlete of the Year nod and NCAA Championships appearance.
This honor marks the second time this season Poole has been named the league's Men's Runner of the Week, further solidifying his impact during the 2026 outdoor campaign.
