ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Horizon League announced their #HLWBB Weekly awards, naming Oakland freshman guard
Makenzie Luehring as the #HLWBB Freshman of the Week for the second consecutive week.
Luehring has been on fire recently for Oakland. She averaged 29.5 points per game last week, on .472 shooting from the field, .417 shooting from three, and 1.5 steals per game in two games of action.
Her week was highlighted by a career-best 33-point performance against Detroit Mercy, where she shot 10-for-17 from the floor and drilled four threes as well. The scoring outburst marked the second highest single game scoring total of any Horizon League player this season.
With now five straight 20+ point performances, Luehring is averaging a league-best 18.0 ppg in conference play, while also in the top five for three-point percentage (.385), threes made per game (2.1)assists per game (3.6) in Horizon League games.
Luehring leads Oakland into their final stretch of games, starting with a road game at IU Indy on Wednesday, Feb. 11 at 6:30 p.m.
