ROCHESTER, Mich. — The Oakland Golden Grizzlies Track and Field team will wrap up their indoor season at the #HLTF Indoor Championships this weekend, Feb. 28-March 1, at the Watson and Tressel Training Site on the campus of Youngstown State.
Both meet days are set to start at 9 a.m. ET, and streamed on ESPN+.
The teams are coming off of a success weekend up north at the SVSU Tune-Up, where the Black and Gold took home a season-high eight first-place finishes at the meet. The Oakland women had a strong showing, highlighted by several event wins. Lauren Goodman led the way with victories in the 60m and 200m, while A'naia Herd won the 400m as Oakland swept the top three spots in the event. Genavieve Kushner-Lopez added another win in the 3000m with a season-best time, and Abigail Rice recorded a personal best to place second in the 800m. In the field events, Kylei Anderson captured the long jump title with a personal-best mark and also finished second in the high jump.
The Golden Grizzly men also delivered multiple standout performances, including a victory from Ja-Van Poole in the 400m after placing third in the 60m hurdles. Carter McCalister added a win in the 5000m, while the distance group picked up additional podium finishes in the 3000m and 800m. Oakland capped off the meet with a first-place finish in the 4x400m relay, highlighting a strong overall team performance.
Last year, the Oakland women finished fourth, while the men picked up a third-place team finish at the championship. The OU women earned podium spots in the 800m, 5000m, shot put, and pole vault, helping power the team to a strong overall finish with a first-place title in the 200m. The men accumulated eight podium spots, including capturing the gold in shot put, weight throw, and in the 800m as Tyler Donovan won the event and was named Men's Freshman Runner of the Year.
