EUGENE, Ore. - Oakland's Ja-Van Poole finished off his season at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Semifinals at Hayward Field, where he finished 14th in the field in the 400m Hurdles.
Poole crossed the finish line with a time of 50.74s in the opening heat of the event on Wednesday night, earning sixth in the heat. As the following and final pair of heats commenced, his time fell just short of the qualifying time to reach the finals, falling less than half a second outside the cut.
Despite his season coming to a close, Poole earned the outstanding accomplishment of earning All-American honors, landing on the Second Team, making him just the second Golden Grizzly to earn All-American honors, joining Andy Bowman (2018).
Poole finishes the season with the top five times in the 400m Hurdles in Oakland program history, all achieved this season.
