ROCHESTER, Mich. – The Oakland Golden Grizzlies men's and women's track and field team has officially announced its indoor schedule ahead of the 2025-26 season.
The Golden Grizzlies will take part in 10 regular-season meets, before the 2025 Horizon League Indoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Youngstown State. Oakland will open up the season tomorrow (Dec. 5) as it heads to both Allendale and Saginaw, Mich., to compete in the GVSU Holiday Open and the SVSU Holiday Open, before the new year.
To kick off 2026, Oakland will head to Akron, Ohio for the Al Campbell Invitational January 16, before another day trip down to South Bend for the Notre Dame Invitational on January 24. The Golden Grizzlies will close out the month with a two-day meet up in Saginaw for the Jets Pizza Invite hosted by Saginaw State January 30-31.
In February, OU will split up with two meets in back-to-back weekends to kick off the month. On Saturday, February 7, Oakland will compete in the Michigan Invitational at U-M and the Mike Lints Invite at Grand Valley State, while also splitting in two meets at Grand Valley State's Big Meet and the David Hemery Valentine Invite hosted by Boston University February 13-14. The Black and Gold will close the regular season in Saginaw for the SVSU Tune Up on February 20.
The team will round out the indoor season in Youngstown, Ohio, to compete in the 2025 Horizon League Championship, slated for Feb. 28 and March 1.
The team looks to build off its successful 2024-25 indoor season that saw four first-place finishes, five second-place finishes and four third-place finishes at the Horizon League Championships. Of the 13 top-three finishes, all but one were individuals, with the other coming from the Men's 4x400M relay team. Notable returns for the Golden Grizzlies are Ja-Van Poole and 2025 Horizon League Men's Freshman of the Year (Runner), Tyler Donovan.
Action this weekend for the Golden Grizzlies begins tomorrow at noon ET at Grand Valley State and 3 p.m. ET at Saginaw Valley State.
