ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Golden Grizzlies men's and women's track and field team gets right back into action as it'll head back down to South Bend, Ind., for the Meyo Invitational tomorrow (Jan. 31) and Saturday (Feb. 1), while also competing at Saginaw Valley State University the same days for the Jet's Pizza Invitational.
The Golden Grizzlies are no strangers to events at either Notre Dame or Saginaw Valley, as it just returned from the Notre Dame Invite last week (Jan. 25), as it returns to Saginaw Valley for the first time since Dec. 6 where it opened its season at the SVSU Holiday Open.
The Oakland Golden Grizzlies track and field teams had a strong showing at the Notre Dame Invite, securing multiple top finishes. Julian Bailey placed third in the men's 60m (6.86) and won the 200m (22.03), while Ke'Vina Finch finished third in the women's 60m (7.66) and won the 200m (24.89). Yami Albrecht took fifth in the mile (4:05.40) and Kylei Anderson won the 60m hurdles (8.80). Alex Mansfield claimed first in the men's shot put (17.38m), and Elizabeth Rice won the women's weight throw (16.48m).
In December, the Oakland women's team performed well in Saginaw's 3000m race, securing five of the top-10 spots. Madalyn Agren finished second (10:51.01), and Miriam Murrell placed in the top five (11:04.52). In the Women's Pole Vault, Allison Shelton led the team with a fifth-place finish, clearing 3.32m.
The Meyo Invitational, hosted by Notre Dame, is slated for a 1:00 p.m. ET start tomorrow (Jan. 31) and a 10:00 a.m. ET start Saturday (Feb. 1). The Jet's Pizza Invitational, hosted by Saginaw Valley State University, is set for 1:30 p.m. ET tomorrow (Jan. 31) and 10:00 a.m. ET Saturday (Feb. 1).
