Track and Field laces up to Host #HLTF Championship Meet

ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Golden Grizzlies return to the track as they are set to host the Horizon League Outdoor Track and Field Championship Meet.

Oakland will square off against their conference foes in a three day meet, beginning on Friday, May 3. The Golden Grizzlies haven't run since the OU Elaine Leigh invite on Apr. 19-20, where they saw a great deal of success with 14 personal records get set and even more top three finishes across all events.

The only runner active since their last meet was freshman Abby Jackson, who participated in the GVSU Extra Weekend Meet as a tune up for the Championships. Adding to what has been an absolutely electric season for the sophomore from Ontario, she broke her own school record in the 800m, clocking in at 2:10.36. She owns the top three spots in program history, all having been established this season.

Oakland is primed for success in the field and the track this weekend, as runners like Eddie Harrell III, Trey Plichta, and Ashley Quinn look to defend their titles, while newcomers like Ke'vina Finch, Kylei Anderson, Carter McCalister, and Justice Stewart look to keep phenomenal freshmen seasons going and place high in their first championship meet.

The championship festivities begin Friday, May 3, with the decathalon kicking things off at 12 p.m.
