Track and Field Ventures to Notre Dame for Meyo Invite

ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Golden Grizzlies men's and women's track and field team keeps its indoor season rolling as it heads back to Indiana to compete in the Notre Dame Meyo Invitational, set to take place Friday (Feb. 2) and Saturday (Feb. 3).
 
The team recently wrapped up its first two-day meet of the season at the IUPUI Invite last week (Jan. 26 - 27). The two-day meet saw many personal bests and high finishes, as eight student-athletes from the women's team set new personal bests, while three on the men's side recorded their bests. In total, Oakland had 14 finishers in the top five, eight from the women and six from the men.
 
On Friday, it was the women's team who all added personal bests as the team saw six new best times. Most notably, Grace Nolan (Women's 5000m Run) and Abby Jackson (Women's 600m Run) finished the best on the day, both in third, as Nolan crossed the finish line in 17:02.82, while Jackson finished with a time of 1:35.30. Also, in the 5k run, Erin Hegarty and Jenny Ohlsson set new bests of 17:18.51 and 17:21.48, respectively.
 
Also, on the women's side on Friday, Kylei Anderson set a best time of 8.84 in the Women's 60m Hurdles, while Grace Hungerford raced in the Women's 200m Run and crossed the line with a personal best of 25.91.
 
Anderson broke her personal best from the day before in the Women's 60m Hurdles with a time of 8.77, good for second place in the race. Makenna Scott set a best time of 10:00.54 in the Women's 3000m Race and crossed the line in fifth.
 
For the men, the team saw two personal bests on the field side with Blake Foster who set a new high in Men's Shot Put with a distance of 14.77m, while Simon Griemert competed in the Men's Pole Vault and recorded a personal best height of 4.28m. To round off the men's personal bests, Carter McCalister placed fifth in the Men's One Mile Run and set a career best time of 4:15.27.
 
SCOUTING REPORT
The Golden Grizzlies frequent the Meyo Invitational, set on the campus of Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind., in the annual meet. Last season, the team hit the Loftus Sports Center as a school record and 12 personal bests highlighted the event.
 
Of the personal bests, two current Golden Grizzlies set a new time at the meet last year. To start, Yami Albrecht placed fourth in the Men's Mile as he crossed the finish line in 4:06.54, while Julian Bailey kept it going on the track with two PR's on the weekend. The at-the-time freshman raced in the Men's 60m and finished with a best time of 7.00 flat, as he also set a best time in the Men's 200m and crossed the line fifth-best freshman with a time of 21.97.
 
The event is set to start off tomorrow at 3:00 p.m., with Saturday's start time at 11:00 a.m., with the final event of the weekend set to take place at 4:10 p.m. on Saturday.
