Three School Records Drop in Final Regular Season Weekend

ALLENDALE, Mich. – Three school records came tumbling down over the course of two days this weekend at Grand Valley State with both of the GVSU Big Meets at the Kelly Family Sports Center.

On the Friday edition, Ashley Quinn was the first of the historic weekend to break the Women's 800m school record with a league-leading time of 2:10.41 to cement her name into the OU legacy.

Makiya Worthy crossed the line with a Women's 200m time of 24.90 for ninth overall in the meet while her teammate, Payton Sabourin, posted the fourth-fastest Women's 400m time of 56.63.

Trey Plichta dipped below the 15:00 barrier in the Men's 5,000m in 14:56.49 along with Adam Jesse and Colin Kane who all finished in 14:57.66 and 14:51.82, respectively.

The second school record, the Women's 4x400m Relay of Worthy, Finney, Azsah Bradley, and Sabourin, then fell in a second-place time of 3:48.76 to best the squad's mark two weeks prior.

Markell Green planted his name at the top of the Men's Shot Put leaderboard at the meet as the freshmen heaved a 16.34m (53'7.5") for first while Salvatore Narusch would complete third place in the Men's Triple Jump with a mark of 13.29m (42'7.25").

Romario Jackson finished Friday in the field for the men with a runner-up finish in the Men's Weight Throw of 17.98m (59'0").

For Saturday, the Women's Distance Medley Relay team of Brooke Hinkelman, Sabourin, Hannah Fisher, and Quinn stole the third, and final, school record of the weekend with a new #HLTF-leading mark of 11:51.16.

Oakland will have the next weekend off heading into the 2023 #HLTF Indoor Championships in Fort Wayne, Indiana on February 25-26.
