INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – For the second consecutive week and fourth time this season, Oakland Golden Grizzlies point guard
Brooke Quarles-Daniels was named the Nike #HLWBB Freshman of the Week on Monday, January 23.
Averaging 18.5 points and 2.5 assists and rebounds in Oakland's two games against the Detroit Mercy Titans on January 18 and IUPUI Jaguars four days later, Quarles-Daniels becomes the first young woman in the conference to win the Freshman of the Week Award four times this season and the first Golden Grizzly to be honored on four separate occasions since Taylor Jones won it a league-leading six times in 2015-16.
Extending her streak of games scoring in double figures to six-straight, the L'Anse Creuse North Crusader graduate had 17 points in the road victory over the Titans and matched a career-high with 20 in the loss to IUPUI.
Returning to the O'rena, where they are 6-1 this year, Quarles-Daniels and the Golden Grizzlies will next be in action when they begin a four-game homestand by welcoming in the Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodons on Thursday, January 26 at 7 p.m. on ESPN+ (subscription required).
This will be the second meeting between these two this season, as Oakland defeated the Mastodons, 66-64, in Fort Wayne on December 4.
