ROCHESTER, Mich. – Oakland University and Women's Volleyball Head Coach,
Krista Rice, have announced the addition of Kyle Stahl as the programs Assistant Volleyball Coach and Recruiting Coordinator on Tuesday.
Stahl was on the Western Michigan staff for 18 years, 11 on the official roster as he moved up from student assistant to volunteer assistant to Associate Head Coach in that span. Stahl was a part of the Broncos team that won the MAC in 2014; appearing in the NCAA Women's Volleyball Tournament in both 2011 and 2014. As a volunteer, Stahl also worked with the WMU squad that made a run to the NCAA quarterfinals in 2008 defeating Dayton and Tulane in the process.
"It's exciting just knowing the (Horizon) league from competing against them at Western Michigan and knowing the high level of play and the success that Oakland has had in the past," said Stahl, "Knowing Krista for many years and joining her to be a part of her staff is something I look forward to."
Stahl had multiple recruiting classes honored by Prep Volleyball with the Highest Honorable Mention all while training three Freshman of the Year middle blockers and multiple First Team All-MAC selections. In total, Stahl and WMU have compiled 31 All-MAC selections, 40 Academic All-MAC honorees, as well as the 2020 MAC Player of the Year, All-American, and All-Region player.
"One of the things that I'm ecstatic about is to bring in somebody of his caliber and experience. I've had an opportunity to coach on the opposite side of the net from Kyle for multiple years and have a tremendous amount of respect for what he's done at Western and I'm looking forward to building the Oakland program with him," said Head Coach Rice.
Graduating with a Bachelor's of Science in Physical Education and Coaching, Stahl also completed his Master of Arts in Sport Management from WMU in 2014 after playing club volleyball for six years.
