ROCHESTER, Mich. -- Oakland University Athletics has announced its partnership with Audacy that makes 97.1 The Ticket HD3 and The Bet 1270AM (WXTY-AM) the official radio providers for the department following a three-year agreement announced by Director of Athletics,
Steve Waterfield.
"We look forward to our new partnership with Oakland University and are very excited to give fans of the Golden Grizzlies home for everything surrounding the men's basketball team," said Debbie Kenyon, Senior Vice President and Market Manager, Audacy Detroit.
With this new partnership, 97.1 The Ticket HD3 and The Bet 1270AM (WXTY-AM) will provide coverage for all Oakland men's basketball games as well as the
Greg Kampe Radio Show. Fans can listen in for the first time for a special edition of the
Greg Kampe Radio Show in conjunction with Oakland University Homecoming activities Wednesday, Oct. 6 at R.J.'s Pub beginning at 7 p.m.
"I am very happy to partner with Audacy to have Golden Grizzlies men's basketball games and the
Greg Kampe Radio show air on at least one of Audacy's family of stations," Waterfield said. "Whether it is WXYT-AM, 97.1 The Ticket HD3, or nationwide on the Audacy app, Golden Grizzlies fans everywhere will be able to follow the men's basketball program. I appreciate Audacy's partnership and look forward to the multi-year partnership expanding Oakland University's presence in Michigan and beyond."
Returning for his 13th season broadcasting Oakland men's basketball is
Neal Ruhl, the longtime "Voice of the Golden Grizzlies". Ruhl is a two-time winner of the Hour Detroit magazine "Best of Detroit" award for best play-by-play broadcaster in Detroit. He also hosts a midday sports talk show on Woodward Sports Network with four-time Stanley Cup champion Darren McCarty and former Detroit Lion, Joique Bell.
"It's great to have Oakland basketball's radio broadcasts be a part of the Audacy family. The affiliation with 97.1 HD3 and 1270AM helps further Oakland's brand recognition," Ruhl said. "It's also perfect that Golden Grizzlies fans will have access to broadcasts anywhere on their phone or smart speakers with the Audacy app, or in crystal clear HD radio in their car."
The Oakland men's basketball team will kick off the season with back-to-back home exhibition contests against Eastern Michigan (10/28) and Lake Superior State (11/5) before opening the season on the road at West Virginia (11/9).
