ROCHESTER, Mich. — The Oakland University swimming and diving program took down Horizon League opponent UIC on Saturday afternoon at the Oakland Aquatic Center. The men's team finished on top, 204-96, while the Golden Grizzly women beat the Flames 191-109.Â
OU won 26 out of 32 events, including all four relays. Oakland added 15 runner-up finishes in the conference face-off, while eight Golden Grizzlies tallied first-place marks in multiple individual events.
Susan LaGrand, an All-American a season ago, totaled a team-high three individual wins on the women's side, as she raced to the meets best times in the 50-yard butterfly (25.52), 100-yard butterfly (56.27), and 100-yard individual medley (57.15). The senior also raced the third leg in the 200-yard medley relay, which placed first at 1:44.92.Â
A newcomer in
Jordyn Shipps strung out victories in the 50-yard freestyle (23.83) and 100-yard backstroke (57.43), while
Emily Aycock won the 200-yard freestyle (1:53.19) and 500-yard freestyle (5:08.54). The senior trio of
Taylor Bailey (50-yard breaststroke, 29.62),
Jewel Huang (50-yard backstroke, 26.82), and
Sydney McDowell (100-yard breaststroke, 1:04.41) rounded out Golden Grizzlies with winning times.Â

The OU men dominated with 14 victories in the home meet.
Christian Bart led the way by claiming top spots in the 50-free (20.46), 100-breast (55.18), and 100-IM. He swam the second leg in Oakland's winning 200-medley relay team, which finished first with a time of 1:30.31.Â
Rudy Aguilar garnered first-place marks in the 50-back (23.53) and 100-yard freestyle (45.77), while
Marko Khotynetskyi finished first in the 100-back (49.05) and 200-free (1:40.70). Both swimmers helped the Golden Grizzlies win in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:22.35).Â
Mack Flowers showed off his speed with victories in the 50-fly (22.24) and 100-fly (48.88) while also helping both relay teams to top times.
Jonas Cantrell also came away with multiple wins, as he led the distance swimmers in the 500-free (4:36.17) and 1000-yard freestyle (9:34.02).Â
The Golden Grizzlies will continue their season with a pair of home meets next weekend, hosting Eastern Michigan on Friday, Nov. 12 in a women's-only meet, and Miami (OH) on Saturday, Nov. 13.
