On behalf of the Oakland Volleyball program, the Golden Grizzlies would like to congratulateÂ
Sammy Condon on her graduation from Oakland University with a master's degree in special education. Condon served as a graduate assistant for the past two seasons.Â
Â
Condon, a native of Naperville, Ill., was a standout for the Golden Grizzlies from 2014-17 becoming the first player in Oakland history to earn all-league honors every season of her career. She is Oakland's all-time leader in block assists (404) and total blocks (432) while finishing her career ranking inside Oakland's top-10 in nine other categories. During her final season, she was one of 30 NCAA women's volleyball student-athletes selected as a candidate for the 2017 Senior CLASS Award.
Â
"I wish Sammy the very best as she graduates from Oakland for the second time, now with her Master's Degree in Special Education. Â She will be an outstanding teacher and positive influence in the lives of her students," Head Coach
Rob Beam said. "As a student-athlete and as a coach, she has been a shining example for everyone as to what it means to be a Golden Grizzly. She gave her maximum effort, lived with joy and enthusiasm, selflessly served her teammates and student-athletes, held herself and her teammates to the highest standards of behavior and execution, built close friendships, and excelled on the court, in the classroom, and in the community. Â She is one of the truly great people that I have had the opportunity to work with and she has left a lasting impression on me and our program."
