ROCHESTER, Mich. -- Samantha Nelson has been named coordinator of game day experience announced by Associate Athletic Director for External Operations
John Ciszewski.
Nelson will be responsible for all marketing, promotions and fan experience initiatives for Oakland Athletics. She will also be instrumental in managing all in-game elements, executing theme nights and special events, and promoting ticket packages, in addition to oversight of the Grizz Kids Club, dance team, band and mascot program.
"Samantha will immediately make a positive impact to our talented team," said Ciszewski. "She has a wealth of experience and will provide a fresh look at our entire game night experience. We welcome her and her family to our Oakland University Athletics family."
Prior to arriving at Oakland, Nelson served as director of game day operations at Clutch Sports Group where she led 100+ game day interns in the execution of theme nights and promotional activities, created on-field entertainment to increase fan engagement and organized media relations and press conferences. In addition, she organized sponsorship fulfillment for local and corporate sponsors while running concessions and handling supply orders throughout the season.
"I'm extremely honored to be a part of the Oakland Athletics team and look forward to making an impact on the experience of our fans and student-athletes," Nelson said.
Nelson earned a master of science degree in dietetics and sports nutrition from Lamar University in 2015 and a bachelor of science degree in nutrition and food science from Sam Houston State University in 2012.
