WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TAKES ON TORONTO

WBB Toronto

ROCHESTER, Mich. --
The Oakland University women's basketball team is hitting the road for a three-day getaway to Toronto from August 9-11.

"We are really looking forward to taking our team to Toronto," Head Coach Jeff Tungate said. "With six new faces on this year's roster, we felt it was important to get in ten extra practices, as allowed under NCAA rules."

The Golden Grizzlies will enter the season with a youthful squad, with no seniors on this year's roster and three new faces on the coaching staff with Ke'Sha Blanton (associate head coach), Ariel Braker (assistant coach), and Callie Phillips (Director of Basketball Operations). The team's youth is what spurred Tungate to plan this trip prior to the start of the season.

"It will give our players the opportunity to learn our system and work with our new staff," Tungate said. "More importantly, we wanted to give our team a trip where they had the opportunity to spend time together having fun."

Sophomore Brianna Breedy will not only use this trip as a chance to bond with teammates, but as a homecoming for the Ajax, Ontario, Canada native.

"This will also give Brianna Breedy an opportunity to get back home and play in front of family and friends," Tungate said. "She will be a great tour guide as well."

The team is looking forward to exploring the city and doing some sightseeing at the CN Tower and a boat tour through the city.

"Our practices have been all business, but the trip itself is about having fun and doing things together," Tungate said. "This team has connected very well so far and this trip will only enhance that connection."
