THREE OAKLAND TEAMS EARN NCAA PUBLIC RECOGNITION AWARDS

The APR is an annual scorecard of academic achievement calculated for all Division I sports teams

INDIANAPOLIS -- The Oakland Women's Cross Country, Women's Golf and Women's Volleyball teams all received Academic Progress Rates (APR) Public Recognition Awards by the NCAA for producing scores in the top 10 percent in their respective sports.

Both women's cross country and golf earned their third consecutive award while volleyball has been recognized for the second straight year. The women's golf team has been recognized by the NCAA for a sixth time, leading all sports at Oakland since the inception of the award in the 2004-05 season.

The APR is an annual scorecard of academic achievement calculated for all Division I sports teams. The NCAA has recognized more than 1,300 programs from 321 schools for academic excellence.

The most recent APRs are multiyear rates based on scores from the 2014-15, 2015-16, 2016-17 and 2017-18 academic years.

The APR provides a real-time look at a team's academic success each semester by tracking the academic progress of each student-athlete on scholarship.  The APR accounts for eligibility, retention and graduation and provides a measure of each team's academic performance.
