ROCHESTER, Mich. – Xavier Hill-Mais led all scorers with 26 points and was 10-for-14 from the field, while pulling down six boards as the Oakland men's basketball team cruised past Saginaw Valley State University, 84-63 Wednesday night from the O'rena in exhibition play.
 
Also in double figures for the Golden Grizzlies was Daniel Oladapo with 12, while Brad Brechting added 10. Oladapo went 3-of-4 from the floor while Brechting went a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line.
 
Oakland entered half time with a 35-23 lead over the Cardinals, holding SVSU to just 31 percent shooting from the floor in the first 20 minutes.
 
The Golden Grizzlies were a force in the paint, scoring 36 of their 84 points from inside.
 
Oakland will kick-off the regular season with its home opener against Goshen Tuesday, Nov. 5 at 7 p.m. inside the O'rena.
