INDIANAPOLIS - Two Oakland teams have been recognized as the Horizon League Raise Your Sights award winners, announced by the league office. The men's golf and volleyball teams are Oakland's recipients of the award for academic excellence.

The honor is given annually to the best sport teams academically and is based on combined grade point average (GPA) from the current academic year. The award recognizes the top academic male and female team from each Horizon League institution.

As a whole, Oakland student-athletes boasted a 3.19 GPA in the spring semester, while volleyball led the way during the 2017-18 campaign on the women's side with a 3.57, while men's golf recorded a 3.31.
