OAKLAND ADDS TRANSFERS LORENA HUBBARD AND CIERRA BOND

May 2, 2016

ROCHESTER, Mich.
- Junior college transfers Lorena Hubbard and Cierra Bond have signed a National Letter of Intent and will be a members of the Oakland women's basketball team next season, announced head coach Jeff Tungate on Monday.

"I feel like we have put together another solid recruiting class," said Tungate. "Adding a quality post player along with a scoring guard blends well with our returning team. I am anxious to see what next year brings for this group."

Hubbard, a 6-foot-3 center from Neptune, NJ, played two years at Odessa Junior College for head coach Ara Baten and was a driving force for the Wranglers during the 2015-16 season guiding the team to a 20-10 record coupled with a Region V semi-finals and National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) National Championship appearance. She tallied six double-doubles as a sophomore averaging 7.6 ppg and 7.3 rpg while shooting 56.3 percent from the field.

"We are very excited to have Lorena join our program," added Tungate. "She brings much needed size, strength and athleticism to our front court. She knows how to win and comes from a very supportive family. With the options Lorena had in her recruitment, including an ACC school, this shows our continued progression in recruiting the very best student-athletes to Oakland University."

Bond, a 5-foot-9 guard from Inkster, Mich. and 2014 graduate of Romulus High School, played two years at South Georgia Technical College in Americus, Ga. for head coach James Frey leading the team to a 27-6 overall record and 14-2 mark in conference play. Bond also led the team in scoring (17.3 ppg) and ranked second in rebounds (7.1 rpg) shooting an impressive 45.9 percent from the field and 46.8 percent mark in conference play while hitting 44.3 percent from three point range and 81 percent from the free throw line.

"Cierra is a great addition to the Oakland University family. She is a winner who can score the basketball and really guard multiple positions," continued Tungate. "She was heavily recruited by some of the top mid-major programs in the country and also continues our trend of bringing in top tier student-athletes to Oakland University."

Bond also played in the NJCAA All Star game in Niceville, Fla. as a freshman and her uncle, Andre Bond, played at Oakland under head coach Greg Kampe from 1987-90.

Hubbard and Bond join junior college standout Mercy Agwaniru who was added the team during the early signing period in November.
