SOMERS, Wis. -- Patricia Aschan was named CollegeSwimming.com's Conference Swimmer of the Week on Tuesday after winning three events against Toledo on Jan. 9.
Aschan, a junior from Raisio, Finland, led the Golden Grizzlies to a victory over the Rockets for the first time since 2004 by winning the 200 back with a time of 2:04.72; the 200 fly in 2:06.57 and the 400 IM in 4:28.30. The reigning Horizon League Female Swimmer of the Year has nine individual event wins this season and has won three individual events in a meet for the second time this year. This is her first weekly award from CollegeSwimming.com and the third given to a member of the Oakland women's swimming and diving team, who are 5-1 in dual meets this year, with a 3-0 Horizon League record.
Both the men's and women's swimming and diving teams will compete in a two-day quad meet Jan. 15-16 against Cincinnati, Kenyon College and Olivet Nazarene in Gambier, Ohio at the Kenyon Aquatic Center.
