FORMER GOLF COACH DAVE DEWULF PASSES AWAY

Oct. 26, 2015

ROCHESTER, Mich. - Former Oakland University golf coach Dave DeWulf passed away on Oct. 23 at the age of 66. DeWulf coached current PGA Tour player Brian Stuard from 2001-05 and led Oakland for 17 years (1990-2007). Services will be held at Potere-Modetz Funeral Home in Rochester on Tuesday (4pm-6pm, 7pm-9pm) and Wednesday (4pm-7pm, service at 7pm).

"It's with great sadness that we learned of Coach DeWulf's passing," said Senior Assistant Athletic Director Scott MacDonald. "Dave brought in quality student-athletes that excelled in the classroom and on the golf course. He was also a very accomplished amateur player in the state of Michigan. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family."

DeWulf guided the women's program to four consecutive runner-up finishes at the Mid-Con Championship (2004-07) and led the men's program to runner-up finishes at the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) in 1992 and '95. DeWulf coached players of the year Dave Mogg (1991) and Stuard (2005), while tutoring 28 all-league performers. He led the men's program to a 14th-place finish at the NCAA Division II Championship in 1997.
