ELMHURST, Ill. - Oakland men's swimmer Amr el Sayed and women's diver Tricia Grant were named The Summit League's Swimming and Diving Athletes of the Week for their performances Jan. 8-14.

El Sayed collects his fourth career Athlete of the Week award and first of the season after helping Oakland, No. 4 in the Mid-Major poll, defeat Cleveland State, No. 11 in the Mid-Major poll. The junior won all three events he competed in, two individual events and a relay. He won the 500-yard freestyle (4:35.95) and 1,000 free (9:30.19) and was a member of the winning 400 free relay team (3:04.16). IUPUI's Mitchell Gauger was also named Men's Athlete of the Week.

Grant captures her second Athlete of the Week honor this season and of her career after recording four first-place finishes in two meets last week. The sophomore helped the Golden Grizzlies defeat Akron with wins in the 1-meter (297.97) and 3-meter (300.60) dives. She then came back to win both events in a tri-meet victory against Cleveland State and Xavier with a score of 304.57 in the 1-meter and a league-leading and career-best 318.98 in the 3-meter.
