Oakland University lost its first-ever men's basketball coach on Tuesday when Dick Robinson passed away at the age of 71. He suffered a serious bike accident near his home in Georgetown, Ky.
Robinson went on to many different careers after leaving OU. He served as a sports agent who recruited baseball players for Chicago-based agent Barry Meister, who has represented Randy Johnson, Roy Oswalt and Tim Wakefield. He also produced a radio show in Lexington, Ky. and had many different jobs inside the political arena.
An avid cyclist and runner, Robinson is one of eight people to have run in all 35 Bluegrass 10,000 races. He is survived by his wife, Christie Robinson; three daughters, Heidi Adams, Tracey Bachmann and Vicki Robinson; and four grandchildren.
