TOLEDO, Ohio - Junior Anthony Halfmann lead the Golden Grizzlies with his first place finish in the javelin throw, hitting a mark of 168 feet, highlighting the Oakland University track and field team's first day of competition at the Toledo Invitational Thursday at the UT Track and Field Facility.
Other top-five finishes on the men's side came from senior Dave Thomas, who took a third place finish in the javelin (155 feet, three inches) and sophomore Tim Williams, who finished fourth in the triple jump (41 feet, 1.5 inches).
For the women, freshman Kara Lotan finished fifth in the javelin throw (101 feet) and sophomore Micah Jones took fourth in triple jump (36 feet, 8.25 inches).
Oakland will finish completion at the Toledo Invitational, as well as compete in the Jesse Owens Track Classis, on Friday, April 30.
