ROCHESTER, Mich. - Last week, Oakland University student-athletes took time to read to children at University Hills Elementary School in Rochester Hills as part of Oakland Athletics' ongoing commitment to community service.

"The athletes continue to do a great job of promoting positive character traits through reading," said Anne Williams, Compliance Coordinator for Oakland Athletics. "The elementary school students are always exited to have the athletes in their class and the OU athletes have just as much fun reading to the young students and talking about their experiences as a student-athlete."

Oakland Athletics' OU Reading Program has partnerships with Hamtramck, Pontiac and Rochester schools and will continue to conduct readings throughout the 2008-09 academic year.
