ELMHURST, Ill. - After averaging 21.0 points, 9.7 rebounds, 3.3 steals and 2.0 assists per game last week, while shooting 44 percent (24-of-55) from the field and 83 percent (15-of-18) from the line, senior Melissa Jeltema has been named The Summit League Co-Player of the Week, as announced by the league office Tuesday.
The Grand Rapids, Mich. native set two career-highs in points (25) and steals (five) and extended her double-digit scoring streak to 26 consecutive games
She also tallied her third double-double of the season with 14 points and 11 rebounds against Illinois and narrowly missed double-doubles against Saint Louis (25 points, 9 rebounds) and Penn State (24 points, 9 rebounds). Jeltema shares the weekly honor with Oral Roberts' Kevi Luper.
The Golden Grizzlies will wrap up non-league play on Tuesday, Dec. 29 when they face Rochester College at the Athletics Center O'Rena, the first of a three-game home stand.
