Rochester, Mich. (August 19, 2005) ???C Oakland???s men???s swimming and diving squad continued to restock for the upcoming season when head coach
Pete Hovland announced the additions of
Mike Templeton (Naperville, Ill.) and
Alex Brinks (Hudsonville, Mich.). A four-year letterwinner at Neuqua Valley High School, Templeton steadily improved during his tenure as a Wildcat. He started his career with second team all-conference honors as a freshman and wrapped up his four years at Neuqua Valley will all-conference and all-state recognition, finishing second in the 200-yard backstroke event in state competition. Templeton captained the Wildcats his senior season, helping to lead them to a 16th-place finish in state competition. He also excelled academically as an Indian Prairie Scholar and Illinois State Scholar. Brinks also captained his high school???s swim team as a senior, leading Hudsonville High School to a 19th-place finish in state competition to end his final season. Lettering all four years as an Eagle, Brinks had his best season as a senior, earning all-conference and All-America recognition. He also tested his water skills outside of racing, lettering in water polo as a senior.
