Rochester, Mich. (May 17, 2005) ???C Oakland University women???s basketball coach Eileen Hilliard has announced the signing of Riikka Tereva (Helsinki, Finland) to a National Letter of Intent. Tereva joins April Kidd (Grand Rapids, Mich.), Jessica Knurick (Commerce Township, Mich.), Kelly Lyons (Sarnia, Ontario) and Jessica Pike (Clawson, Mich.) who signed in November to play with the Golden Grizzlies for the 2005-06 season. A 5-6 guard, Tereva averaged 15 points, 8.5 rebounds, three steals and three assists in 2005 for Espoo, her club team. Last summer she played for the U-20 Finnish National Team that finished 11th at the European Championships for women. ???Riikka brings us some international experience as well as a great work ethic,??? Hilliard said. ???She can really make things happen for herself and her teammates, and is looking forward to the challenge of basketball in the U.S. Riikka loves to push the ball up the floor and understands the game very well.???
