Box Score Rochester, Mich.???C Oakland held a double-digit lead midway through the second half but was unable to hold off Oral Roberts in a battle between the top two three-point shooting teams in the conference on Monday night as they suffered a 63-69 loss in women???s basketball action at the ???O???rena. 
Jayme Wilson (Shawnee, Kan.) led all players for the second game in a row with 20 points for Oakland, but Kristin Atkinson???s 5-of-8 performance from behind the arc led Oral Roberts to the win. The Golden Grizzlies fall to 9-13 overall with the loss and 5-5 in the conference. Oral Roberts improved to 17-6 overall and 6-4 in the Mid-Con, maintaining its grip on second place. Oakland fell behind early as Cori Williston scored eight of her team???s first 10 points. Wilson responded for the Golden Grizzlies registering six of her team???s first eight. She would eventually give Oakland a 14-12 lead, its first of the game, with a pair of free throws at the 10:32 mark. As the half wore on Oakland built its lead up to eight with just over five minutes until halftime. Leah Cannon brought Oral Roberts to within four in the closing seconds but Wilson answered the call once again with a two-point bucket to close out the half. Both teams shot an uncharacteristic 1-of-7 from three-point range in the first half. Oakland made the necessary adjustments during halftime and started to take the ball inside. The result was a 14-point lead less than five minutes into the second half on a two-point basket by 
Katie Wolfe (Cedar Springs, Mich.), who finished with 15 points on the night. The pace of the game increased as the two teams traded baskets but Oakland was able to keep Oral Roberts a safe distance away. Wilson???s two-pointer with 7:44 left to play allowed Oakland to maintain a double-digit lead at 10 but Oral Roberts started to come out of its three-point shooting slump to close in on the Golden Grizzlies safe lead. The Golden Eagles went on a 17-4 run in a span of six minutes, which included five three-pointers, to take a three-point lead, its first lead since 13:04 of the first half. 
Anne Hafeli (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) tied the game at 63 for Oakland with a three-point shot but Stephanie Clark???s layup with 40 seconds left gave Oral Roberts the lead for good. 
Amanda Batcha (Waterford, Mich.) finished the game with seven points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Hafeli scored 10 points on 4-of-8 shooting from the field. As a team Oakland went 51.9 percent from the floor and finished 2-of-13 from three-point range. Oral Roberts shot 50 percent from beyond the perimeter and was 8-of-11 in the second half. Atkinson finished with 17 points for the Golden Eagles. She was joined in double digit scoring by Williston and Cannon who both ended up with 14 and Clark who added 10. Up next for Oakland will be a trip to Macomb, Ill. to take on Western Illinois in the Golden Grizzlies final road trip of the regular season. The game is set for Saturday, February 22nd at 2:00 p.m.
