Freshman men's swimmer
Chris Sullivan (Rockford) will be the first men's swimmer to compete at the NCAA Championship at the Division I level. The Golden Grizzlies have been comepeting at the Division I level for three years. Sullivan will join
Oksana Strelets, who was honored last week to represent OU at the women's championship in Austin, Texas. Sullivan qualified to swim the 50 and 100 yard freestyles at the NCAA Championship which will be held in Athens, Georgia. The Rockford native recorded his best times of the year in the 50 and 100 free as he helped the Golden Grizzlies finish third at the National Independent Conference Championships. Sullivan was the first OU male swimmer to brake the twenty second barrier as he finished first in the 50 free with a 19.96. The freshman freestyler will also swim the 100 yard freestyle as he qualified with a time of 44.44 at the NIC's. "This is a real bonus for Oakland University to be represented by both the men and women at the NCAA Championships," said head coach
Pete Hovland. "We are very excited for Chris and Oksana." The Championships will take place on March 28-30 as the preliminaries will be at 12 noon and the finals will be at 7 p.m. eastern standard time.
