Oakland Captures Fourth Straight Dual Meet In Men's Swimming And Diving

The Oakland University men's swimming and diving team defeated the visiting Lords of Kenyon College by 65 points Friday afternoon in Rochester. Oakland had a combined score of 144 points to Kenyon's 65. The Golden Grizzlies improve to 4-0 in dual meets on the season. Leading the way for OU was Marc Gray (Rochester/Adams) who placed first in the 1650 free with a time of 16:22.85. He placed second in the 500 free (4:45.53) behind teammate Andy Schmit (La Mesa,CA/Grossmont) who place first with the time of 4:44.69. Schmit reversed places with Gray for the 1650 free as he wound up in second place coming in at a time of 16:35.89. Dave Hartzel (Middletown,DE/Germantown Academy/USC) continued with his winning ways as he placed first overall in the 200 free (1:43.91) and the 200 back (1:53.61). Mark Quinn also was first in the 200 breast with a time of 2:08.75. Patrick Foley (Rochester Hills/Rochester/BG), Sean Broadbent (Windsor, Ontario/Vincent Massey), and Joe Lebovic also took home top honors in their individual events. Foley captured the 200 IM with the time of 1:58.63. Broadbent was tops in the 100 free(46.29), while Lebovic, the solo diver took home the top preformances in the 1M (199.30) and 3M (167.40). OU also had outstanding outings by Colin Dolcetti (Sault Ste. Marie, Onatrio/Sir James Don C.U.S.) and Doug Drazin (West Bloomfield/West Bloomfield/Ohio State. Both Dolcetti and Drazin took a second place finish in their preformances in the 200 fly and 50 free. Dolcetti had a time of 1:58.15 (200 fly) and Drazin came in at 21.55 (50 free) The Golden Grizzlies also captured the final event of the evening in the 400 free relay. The team of Broadbent, Drazin, Todd Duncan (Trenton/GirbralterCarlson) and Joel Wallace(Bloomfield Hills/Groves/Tennessee) had a time of 3:09.00 to finish Oakland's top preformances. Oakland will compete again on Saturday January 20th as they head to East Lansing to take on the Michigan State Spartans at 1 p.m.
