Seth Swary began his role as the Coordinator of Sport and Performance Psychology in June 2020 in a new position created in collaboration with Athletics and the OU Counseling Center. In this position, Swary provides mental skills training and team workshops to student-athletes and mental health counseling for both students and student-athletes across campus.

Prior to Oakland, Swary completed PhD coursework in Sport, Exercise, and Performance Psychology and earned his MA in Community Mental Health Counseling at West Virginia University. Swary conducted research on the use of music in sport, sport psychology service delivery, applied issues in college sports, and multicultural issues and provided mental health and mental performance services for student-athletes as an Athletics Clinical & Sport Psychology graduate assistant.Â

Swary received an MA in Sport and Performance Psychology from the University of Denver in 2016. Through his training, Swary has worked with athletes from a variety of sports at the youth and collegiate levels.Â

A native of Pandora, Ohio, Swary received his BA in Neuroscience and Psychology from Ohio Wesleyan University where he played football for the Battling Bishops. When not working, Swary can be found spending time with his fiancé, Lauren, and friends and family, exercising, and binge-watching Netflix.
