Colin Shannon was named the Director of Basketball Operations for Oakland Men's Basketball in July of 2022. His duties include team operations, logistics, fundraising, and serves as a liaison to the program and the rest of the athletic department.
Shannon is no stranger to the Golden Grizzlies, as he has been involved with the program since 2016. He was first a student manager for three years during his undergrad, later spending the 2019-20 season as an assistant video coordinator, followed by Oakland's graduate assistant where his duties included assisting with team operations, creating analytic reports, and coordinating player workouts. In 2019, Shannon received the NABC Fast Model Next Generation Scholarship, awarded to the nation’s top collegiate basketball manager.
In addition to his time at Oakland, Shannon served as the head freshman and junior varsity basketball coach at Royal Oak Shrine High School from 2016 to 2020, where he accumulated 78 career victories. Despite being the youngest coach in the Michigan Catholic League, he posted a 41-19 record against conference play, including a 26-6 mark in his final 32 games.
Shannon earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Oakland in 2019 and has his master’s degree in communications from Oakland in 2021.
