PAT SARVER

Pat Sarver

Pat Sarver enters his 3rd year of coaching cross country and track and field at Oakland University. Sarver began coaching at Oakland as a volunteer assistant in 2019 and has since been promoted to assistant coach, working primarily with middle distance and distance athletes. At Oakland, he assisted with the women's 2019 HL cross country championship team, including 2019 NCAA cross country individual qualifier Maggie Schneider.

Before entering Oakland, he was a volunteer assistant at San Jose State University from 2016-2019. Pat coached the team to 11 NCAA Preliminary West Round appearances as a volunteer assistant. He assisted with coaching Jose Pina, the first NCAA individual qualifier in cross country since 1988. He also helped coach Craig Huff to a 2019 Mountain West championship in the 3000m Steeplechase. Pat also aided in the return of the historic "Speed City" track and field program in 2019, competing in their first conference meet since 1988.

Before San Jose State, Coach Sarver served as the head cross country coach and assistant track and field coach for L'Anse Creuse North High School in Macomb, Michigan, from 2010-2016. 

Coach Sarver got his start as an assistant cross country coach at Notre Dame Preparatory High School in 2008. He has a USATF Level 1 coaching certification in endurance events.

Sarver is a 2010 alumnus of Oakland University, graduating with a BA in English. He served as a team captain for the cross country and track and field teams and was a member of the 2005 Mid-Continent cross country championship team. He also was a member of the university's inaugural track and field team in 2006. 

He is a native of Chesterfield, Michigan.
