Oakland University Announces Pilot Program to Sell Alcoholic Beverages at Two Upcoming Men’s Basketball Games
Oakland University, as part of a pilot program, will offer certain alcoholic beverages for sale to individuals attending its January 7 and January 9 men’s basketball games.
Alcoholic beverages will be sold at a separate and dedicated concession stand in the southeast corner of the O’Rena, by servers trained as required by Michigan law, and will be limited to no more than two alcoholic beverages per transaction.
Individuals must be at least 21 years of age, and provide bona fide picture identification acceptable to the University establishing both their identity and age, in order to purchase and/or consume alcoholic beverages in the O’Rena. The University at all times reserves the right to refuse to serve or sell alcohol to anyone.
All alcoholic beverages purchased at the O’Rena must be consumed within the O’Rena – individuals will not be allowed to take any alcoholic beverages outside of the O’Rena.
The University will end the sale of alcoholic beverages after the first media timeout of the second half of each game.
A decision on whether to continue the sale of alcoholic beverages at other men’s basketball in the future will be made at later dates.
Oakland plays the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay on January 7 at 7 p.m. and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee on January 9 at 4 p.m.
