Kate Burke starts her second year as the Coordinator of Athletic Marketing and Promotions at Oakland University. Burke comes to Oakland after spending a year as the Operations Manager at Newcomb Hall (Student Center) at the University of Virginia, and one year as the Annual Fund Phonathon and Legacy Fund Manager at Xavier University.
A native of Prospect Heights, Ill., Burke graduated from Eastern Illinois University in 2003 with a BA in journalism. She was a four-year letterwinner in swimming, serving as the team captain her senior year. She was the recipient of the Debbie Kroening Hudgins Athletic Leadership Scholarship in 2001-02.
Burke also competed in water polo at the University of Limerick (Ireland) in 2002-03.
Burke attended high school at John Hershey High School in Arlington Heights, Illinois, where she lettered in swimming, water polo, and track and field.
In 2005, Burke received her Masters degree in sports management from Indiana State University.
