Golden Grizzlies Prepare for Pair of Meets Against the Wolverines and Lakers

ROCHESTER, Mich. – The Oakland Swimming and Diving teams gear up for a trip to Ann Arbor Friday and a home stand against the Lakers on Saturday.

Friday at University of Michigan
The Golden Grizzlies head to Ann Arbor Friday afternoon for a dual-meet with the Wolverines. The Oakland Swimming and Diving teams look to bounce back after a tough meet at the University of Cincinnati.

The dual-meet between the Golden Grizzlies and Michigan Wolverines will begin Friday at 3 p.m. inside Canham Natatorium. The meet will be streamed live on B1G+. This meet will be the 20th meeting in program history. In their last meeting in the 2022-23 season, the Wolverines secured a win against the Golden Grizzlies.

Saturday versus Grand Valley State
The Golden Grizzlies will be back home Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Oakland Aquatic Center to face the Grand Valley State Lakers. This meet will also be the Annual Mitten Toss Fundraiser where free entry will be awarded to those who bring at least 5 mittens.

In their last meeting in 2021, the Golden Grizzlies earned the win for both the men's and women's programs. The Golden Grizzlies look to round out a competitive pair of matchups on Saturday versus the Lakers.

The Golden Grizzlies look to have success both in Ann Arbor and at home behind key athletes. The two-time Horizon League Women's Diver of the Week Ellie Chalifoux looks to continue her tear through competition against two strong programs. Both Harry Nicholson and Jordyn Shipps have also garnered Horizon League Swimmers of the Week so far this season after stellar performances. They look to improve on those during these meets. Nicholas Karel Subagyo has also been leading the Golden Grizzlies in his events. The freshman has earned many podium finishes and looks to earn more at these meets. Jonas Cantrell, who has been dominating his freestyle events, is eager for more against the Wolverines and Lakers. Grace Albrecht aims to dominate her backstroke events with more podium finishes in these two meets.

The Golden Grizzlies are primed for these two meets away and at home. Friday at the University of Michigan, the meet will be steamed on B1G+. Saturday, follow along on Swim Cloud or Meet Mobile versus Grand Valley State.
